Hi, I'm Dana Cope, Executive Director of the State Employees Association of North Carolina.
Dana Cope, Executive Director of the State Employees Association of North Carolina, currently lives in Raleigh, NC, with his wife and their two sons.
Dana Cope has been leading the SEANC since 2000 and along the way has secured many victories for state employees and retirees. From 2002 to 2008, the EMPAC grew from the 276th largest political action comittee to the 11th largest under Dana Cope and his leadership. He also helped the SEANC to strengthen its voice by affiliating with the SEIU.
Before leading SEANC, Dana Cope was the director of governmental affairs for the North Carolina Department of Labor. Dana Cope attended Southern Methodist University, where he earned his BS in Political Science.

Under my leadership, SEANC has scored numerous victories for state employees and retirees, including the following:
- Securing the largest backâtoâback pay increases in nearly two decades (5.5% in 2006 and 4% in 2007)
- Suing the governor in 2001 over escrowed retirement funds and facilitating full $130 million repayment
- Growing EMPAC from NCâs 276th largest political action committee in 2002 to 11th in 2008
- Protecting premiumâfree health care for state employees
- Affiliating with the SEIU in 2008 to strengthen SEANCâs voice
